The Vickers Machine Gun – 11mm “Balloon Buster” made under license in the U.S. by Colt

The side view of the Vickers Gun made in the U.S. in 1918 under license by Colt. The “Balloon Buster” as it is known was made for 11mm French “Gras” incendiary ammunition in order for fighter planes to attack hydrogen filled German barrage balloons. Colt made a few changes to the design, such as the addition of the large rear-mounted recoil tube assembly.
